The answer is determined by the type of shellac on the wood’s surface. If you’re unsure about the type of finish you have, you can easily strip the shellac finish. When painting, you will most likely need to thoroughly clean and even sand the piece before beginning. You can clean the facility by soaking a paper towel soaked in mineral spirits.
How Long They Last. Acrylic is more durable and lasts longer than Shellac. “When properly applied, acrylic nail enhancements should last until you or your nail tech removes them, giving your nails strength at any length and minimizing breakage, cracking, and chipping,” Malarkey says. That’s not to say Shellac isn’t worthwhile, though.
9. Growing Out. After a week, you'll start to see that your nails are growing out, and there is a line between the solar nails and your new natural nails. Apparently, you can get this line smoothed out by having the nail salon fill more acrylic over the new growth.
Wait till it's dry to the touch for a number of reasons. Use shellac flacks and alcohol denatured with something safe to burn (I mix Shellac with Everclear, but that gets $$). I wouldn't use the can stuff since you don't know what's in it. That said, shellac will melt, I'm not sure what it's going to do when it's hit by a laser.
Water is not a real problem with shellac, don't let water sit for long periods, and make sure the surface is dry before you apply. Alcohol is a anothers matter -- it will dissolve shellac. If is has been more than a couple of hours and you don't have any surface problem showing, you are likely all right.
A: You haven’t made a mistake. You should use a seal coat of shellac before filling the grain, and grain fillers work equally as well over both waxed and dewaxed shellac. Fillers typically have some color to them, and if you don’t use a seal coat, it will affect the color of the wood beneath. After the filler is dry, I put down another coat

You should use dewaxed shellac if lacquer will be your final finish. If you have already used shellac with wax, get some ultra-blond dewaxed, apply one or 2 thin coats to "seal in" the wax, then a thin lacquer coat for final protection. Lacquer over shellac is a fine finish. Use the shellac as as a sanding sealer and to get a smooth finish
